Loft Insulation (LI)

What is Loft Insulation (LI)

Loft insulation is a barrier of material in your roof space that traps heat. LI can either be laid between the joists (the horizontal beams along the floor of your attic) or the rafters (the angled beams that support the roof).
How does loft insulation work? Put simply, loft insulation works by trapping the warm air inside your home and stopping it from rising through the roof. If LI is installed in the right way it will still allow moisture to pass through and therefore minimise condensation.
As with everything, insulation doesn't last forever. Well-fitted loft insulation has a typical shelf life of 30-40 years before it starts to deteriorate and becomes less effective at insulating your home. The result of having a poorly insulated loft is higher energy bills and less heat retention.
A quarter of heat is lost through the roof in an uninsulated home. Insulating your loft, attic or flat roof is an effective way to reduce heat loss and reduce your heating bills. Installed correctly, loft insulation should pay for itself many times over in its 40-year lifetime.

Why is it beneficial to have LI?

With the growing emphasis on environmental sustainability, loft insulation plays a crucial role in reducing a household's carbon footprint. By using less energy to heat your home, you are also contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. It's a win-win situation for both your wallet and the planet.

1. Preventing Heat Loss
2. Saving on Bills
3. Becoming More Environmentally Friendly
4. Noise Reduction
5. Increase in Your Home's Value

How we provide this service?

If access is easy and your loft joists are regular, we can use rolls of mineral wool insulation. The first layer is laid between the joists – the horizontal beams that make up the floor of the loft –another layer is laid at right angles to cover the joists and make the insulation up to the required depth.

What LI gives?

Insulation in your home provides resistance to heat flow and lowers your heating and cooling costs. Properly insulating your home not only reduces heating and cooling costs, but also improves comfort.
